A request to all magic users, particularly those of English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, or other familial background centred on the British Isles:
Please refrain, if possible, from swearing, cursing, or otherwise making oaths that call upon the various body parts of Merlion. Not only is it impolite to do so without express permission, but it is also rather tiresome to be distracted in the middle of potentially important research by an individual who has chosen to invoke one's left eyebrow solely to prove a point.

Character Notes
Merriman Lyon -- or Merlion, if you want to be technical about it -- is from the continuity of Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising Sequence. To all outward appearances he is an elderly gentleman, very tall and thin, with a hawk-like face and unruly white hair. Occasionally he will be found wearing academical dress, because in modern times he is a Professor of Archaeology at Oxford University. Like Will Stanton, he is an Old One: the first and the oldest of all the Old Ones, and a Lord of the Light. Because to him all times co-exist, he can appear from any point in Time...and he often does.
